Timber boarding
and cladding
- Timber is a great material
for cladding a building -it is renewable and reusable, looks
good and is easy to work with. You
will find a useful article on the durability of timber cladding
on GreenSpec.
Woods such as oak, elm, chestnut,
western red cedar and larch traditionally provide a durable,
protective layer as well as being excellent insulators.
- Boards are available in a
range of sawn or machined profiles:
- Sawn: square-edge; feather-edge;
waney-edge
- Machined: shiplap; halflap;
TG+V; channel, splayed.
See our page on decorative
finishes for details of stains, oils and preservative finishes.
