Rooflights

Domestic sloping rooflights are usually supplied complete with integral flashings to suit the type of roof finish (tiled, slated etc) -they will be pivoting or top hung, for example the velux or colt systems. Escape rooflights are top hung and sized to meet the minimum requirement under the Building Regulations. For flat roofs, then a domed or pyramid type, such as skydome or Ubbink, is generally set on an upstand against which the roof membrane is dressed up.

Control mechanisms are important, as it may be difficult or even impossible to open the rooflight from floor level -solutions might include operation by pole, winder mechanism or electrical controls.

If you are building in a conservation area, then you will probably need a conservation rooflight -distinguished by having only narrow glazing bars visible externally with a finish giving the appearance of lead.

  • Cast Rooflights -rooflights with a traditional appearance suitable for historic or listed buildings.
  • Fakro -rooflight alternative to Velux.
  • Glazing vision -specialists in glass rooflights.
  • Metal Window Company -replica conservation rooflights, escape windows and pyramid lights.
  • Skydome -specialists in domed rooflights for flat roofs.
  • Ubbink -roof windows and domed polycarbonate rooflights.
  • Velux -the definitive rooflight company -provides a full range of high performance rooflights for a variety of situations -top hung, pivot, excape windows and conservation rooflights.
