Recycling Building Materials:

There are a number of good sites below dedicated to the subject of recycled building materials, plus a few covering recycling in general.
  • Aggregain -guide to the use of sustainable aggregates.
  • Brighton and Hove Wood Recycling Project -set up in February 1998 in the Brighton area to try to recover and re-use some of the vast quantity of timber needlessly being landfilled.
  • Capital Reclaimed Bricks -reused bricks, tiles and stone with online search facility.
  • Durisol -building blocks made using a proprietary cementbonded wood fibre material, composed of specially graded recycled waste wood (100% clean, natural softwood lumber), that is neutralized and mineralized, and then bonded together with Portland cement.
  • GlassECO -kitchen worktops made from 85% recycled glass bottles.
  • London Remade aims to drive material resource efficiency in London, by increasing demand for recycled material through the development of collections, reprocessing, remanufacture and procurement.
  • Materials Information Exchange a demolition resource exchange site run by the BRE.
  • Recycled Products Guide -the UK directory of recycled products.
  • Waste Connect -comprehensive reference for recycling points throughout the country.
  • Waste Watch -promotes action on waste reduction, re-use and recycling.
  • WRAP -Waste and Resources Action Programme -aims to create efficient markets for recycled materials and products and does specific work in six material streams: aggregates, glass, organics, paper, plastics, and wood.

Recycling of Domestic Waste:

  • Eco Centric -offers unique designer items for the home which adhere to eco-credentials, from designer vases made from recycled glass to camera bags of recycled leather, there is an amazing range of gift ideas.
  • Living Soil -produce a range of kitchen waste digesters.
  • RecycleWorks -products to enable you to compost, shred and otherwise recycle your household waste.
  • Recycle Zone -fun site for schools, children and teachers that tells what's what in the world of waste.
  • Urban Composting -a really informative site on composting and supply a range of waste composters and wormeries.
  • Wiggly Wrigglers -supply composters and wormeries to digest your kitchen and garden waste.
