Loft Ladders
and Spacesaver Stairs
A ladder is distinguished from
a stair by the fact that due to its steepness you go up and down
facing the same way (ie facing the ladder).Their steepness makes
them useful for very tight spaces but they are not really suitable
for day to day usage.
In recent years innovative
stair designs have made it possible to use very compact spacesaver
stairs for loft conversions and tight situations. These have
'paddle' shaped treads that alternate between left and right.
Do try them in use before going ahead with these -they are not
for everyone, as they nonetheless do require a good degree of
mobility.
