Our history
and ethos:
- The HousePlanner is edited
by a small group of UK architects. It started life as a collection
of our own favourite bookmarks. We thought they might be of value
to others, and decided in 2002 to share them as a series of personal
reviews. Since then the site has continued to grow in scope and
usefulness, as evidenced by reader feedback:
-
- "Have just discovered
your website and this must be the MOST USEFUL website I have
come across for real information if you are renovating/building
in a sustainable way great stuff and thank you!!"
-
- Alongside a general interest
in building construction, we have always been keen to promote
low energy and environmentally sustainable design. For this reason
we have a dedicated section on sustainability. Further than this,
you will find that prominence is given to ethical companies throughout,
whether through renewable energy systems or green mortgages.

Privacy
Policy
Your privacy is important
to us. We use a counter to monitor the number of visitors. We

that use cookies and web beacons in the course of appearing on
this website.
Counter and log file
The web counter collects certain information including internet
protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider
(ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp,
and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site,
track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic
information for aggregate use. IP addresses and other information
gathered are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied
to information about the user. The use of cookies is a common
practice on many websites. For example, if you allow a website
to remember your login name or password, the website places a
cookie on your computer. Cookies cannot read any other information
on your hard drive.
Web Beacons
A web beacon is a transparent image file used to monitor your
journey around a single website or collection of sites. They
are commonly used to monitor traffic. They may be used in association
with cookies to understand how visitors interact with the pages
and content on the pages of a web site.
Browsers can be set to accept
or reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is being sent.
Privacy software can be used to override web beacons. Taking
either of these actions shouldn't cause a problem with our site,
should you so choose. For more details, see the "help"
section of your internet browser.
